The hCG is a glycoprotein hormone produced by the developing placenta shortly after fertilization. It is an important biomarker for detection of pregnancy and pregnancy-related disorders. It can be detected in the urine as early as 8 to 10 days after conception. The test is conducted by adding urine specimen to the sample well of the test kit and observing the formation of pink colored lines. This test is designed for over-the-counter use.
